Our Little Poser

Jack was more than happy to have me take his pic onboard one of the planes on our trip last week….

28 Weeks!

Yesterday Will and I had our 28-weeks checkup, and things are moving along great! It was pretty funny watching the doctor try to find Will’s heartbeat. She’d find it for a second and then he’d kick her and flip over so she had to look for it again. But she did find it so I could hear it: loud and strong and clear. Will is making himself at home and spending lots of time on his workout program. He’s definitely as wiggly as Jack was and possibly more–he keeps me hopping! :)  Now that we’ve hit 28 weeks (and actually we’ll be 29 weeks in just 2 days), we’re moving from the 4-week checkup schedule to the 2-week checkup schedule, so Will and I will be heading into downtown Nashville on a very regular basis. I’m glad they’re keeping a good, close watch on him! Will’s October due date is getting closer and closer. We’re excited to meet our boy soon!

Jack (and Will) got some good front-porch time with Mommy and Daddy on our travels. :)

“Look, an airplane!”

One of the great things about Jack getting older and noticing more things is being able to take him to an airport and see him get excited about seeing airplanes and big trucks. We spent a lot of time this weekend staring out airport terminal windows say, “look Jack, do you see the airplane!”

Walking through the airport with mom

I quickly grabbed my camera phone when I saw this cute moment happening in front of me as Jack and Anne went to go hunt for a bathroom and some snacks before we boarded our plane.

Do I fit?

The Horch family did some flying this weekend taking Jack on 4 airplanes.  While we waiting for one of our flights, Jack I did some exploring to use up some of his energy. As we explored the terminal, Jack found a play area. These are some of my favorite pictures that we have recently taken of our playful and curious boy.

Jack’s Red Chair

Our big boy can now climb up into the red chair in his room all by himself…..and I think he’s a bit proud about it!

Michelangelo?

Jack’s first work of art (with a few touches by Daddy):

A child prodigy?? Well, I don’t want to jump to conclusions, but……. perhaps!

My Dinner Helper

Jack has been my faithful dinner helper for months now. Every evening as I work on dinner, he scoots around the kitchen, helping me by playing with various kitchen objects. Lately he’s especially enjoyed the saucepan-lid-car-spoon combo I gave him. But a couple nights ago after I gave him that combo along with the special treat of a pair of tongs, he discovered a box I’d left sitting on the floor by the refrigerator. You wouldn’t believe how long he was entertained by all of that! He had the best time…. Here are a couple pics (and no, I didn’t put him inside the box–he did that himself!):

500th post!

Today we reached our 500th blog post on our awarding-winning and critically-acclaimed Horch blog. Almost two years ago we started this groundbreaking endeavor to record our life as the Horch family. Our funny pictures of Jack and interested anecdotes about Anne and me have captured the attention and devotion of not only a nation but the whole world. Each day millions of people (or just a handful — I really don’t track stats) faithfully read about the daily adventures of one of the most beloved families in America. We thank you loyal fans (i.e. my mom, dad and Rachel Hauck) for your support. We look forward to another 500!

Three months to Will

Today marks three months until our projected due date of October 16. Three months until we become the average American family of 2.0 kids. At least we don’t live in Yemen where the average kids per family is 7.6! Three months is going to fly by very quickly. It is essentially 90 days. That’s nothing. That’s a return policy. A warranty.  A jail sentence for pro athletes or celebrities. It is going to be here before we know it. So over the next month I am sure we will begin to get Will’s space all set-up and ready for his arrival.

Gymboree!

Jack is becoming a pro at Gymboree. I take him there several times a week–once a week for a “play & learn class” and the rest of the time for “open gym.” He loves it, and I love it too. Here are a couple pics from our latest visits….

“Jack is a factor”

Yesterday as we ate dinner and watched Jack eat a normal adult-sized serving of baked spaghetti, Anne made the comment that now “Jack is a factor” when preparing dinner. Before, he just ate little portions of whatever we were eating, but Anne was still cooking for two. But this little boy can eat. He has always been a great eater, rarely refusing anything. But now as he continues to grow he seems to be developing a bigger appetite meaning that now we are cooking for three. And for those that worry that maybe he is eating too much, this boy is growing up tall and skinny. He seems to have inherited the high metabolism from his dad. Enjoy it while you can, Jack.
