Jack enjoys a fun moment with his oldest cousin Katie Goldsmith. This was one of my favorite pics from the holidays. As always, Jack is always happy to give the camera a smile.

“I’m Not Afraid of the Big Black Dog”
Jack hasn’t had a lot of experience with animals since we don’t have any pets, so it was a whole new experience for him to spend a few days with my brother’s dog Jenny Belle while we were in Alabama for Christmas. It was a slow process, but eventually Jack got somewhat comfortable with Jenny, who is the sweetest, gentlest dog there ever was. It was a big moment when Jack finally felt comfortable enough to let Jenny lick his hand…..
Jack’s First Christmas
Christmas Jack wasn’t super smiley for the camera, but he had a lot of fun with Daddy and Grammy and Grandpa…….
Cousins galore!
Jack got to see all of his aunts and uncles and all of his cousins this Christmas. There was lots of happy chaos! Jack has 7 cousins on Anne’s side and 5 cousins on Jeff’s side, and he’s the youngest on both sides. Here is a pic of Jack with each group. We were proud to add our boy to the mix!
Breaking News!
Welp, it’s official: Jack can crawl!! He was playing with Jeff Sunday morning before church when he crawled for the first time, and he’s been honing his skills ever since. He’s still a little slow and tentative, but I think he’s doing great–after all, he’s only been crawling for two days now! It’s really fun to watch him make his way across the floor. And our house is filled with all of my makeshift blockades: barriers to guard against where he goes when he crawls, barriers to guard where he goes when he’s zooming around in his walker. This place is a maze of ever-changing obstacles! The sign of a happy, boy-filled home.
Jack Rules with an Iron Whisk
One thing Jack loves to do is supervise me when I’m in the kitchen cooking dinner. It’s amazing how much he has to do, moving authoritatively up and back across the floor in his walker. As his Chef de Cuisine, I have the responsibility of making the food, and as Executive Chef, he has the right to stay right on my heels, waving his whisk at me and questioning my decisions. Thankfully when it comes down to it, he’s really a great boss.

Breakfast at the Barrel
This is my first post on the Horch blog!! Jeff has given me the huge privilege of unlimited access to the site……so be prepared for some blogs from me every once in a while now too!
Just had to post this pic of our already oh-so-grown-up boy. We went to Cracker Barrel for a Horch family breakfast this morning and Jack got to sit in his own chair and play with his own straw. What a little man!
Peace to you all from Jack’s proud mom–
